Matador Playlist 2/6/25

Welcome back, Gentle Reader(s), to yet another installment of Matador Playlist coming straight to you via the good graces of Ye Olde Matador Bar & Lounge. Be forewarned as this shall be the last iteration of the playlist for a few weeks, as Your Humble Narrator will be taking off for Ink South in a few days. Come February I’m about ready for a bit of a break from Santa Fe winter, which has been has been distressingly devoid of snow while still managing to be cold as a sumbeyotch—up until this week at least, which has been bizarrely printemps-ish as regards matters meteorological. It’s all rather disconcerting, but what with the Orange Goblin going progressively apeshit crazy on a daily basis, I can’t say I’m surprised. As Miss Exene Cervenka observes in song #4 in this week’s playlist, ‘The World’s A Mess, It’s In My Kiss.’ Pucker up, Gentle Reader(s).

So, we (and by ‘we’ I mean ‘I’) could easily leave it there and get down to the business at hand, which is music, but I’m afraid I just cain’t hep mahsef. This week’s latest press conference hallucination in which the Orange Goblin proposed having the U.S. of A. take over Gaza, deport all of its devastated inhabitants, cart away the rubble and unexploded ordnance and redevelop it into Gaz-a-Lago really puts shame to every prior Goblin frontal cortex meltdown. I mean, seriously, people—what the fuckin’ FUCK??

Ninety-five percent of the sane people on the planet immediately went apoplectic, which might well have been the intention. The sorry spectacle resurrected one of the conundra lingering from Original DrumpfReich: Crazy? Or crazy like a fox? I’ve never been able to suss that one out to a certainty, but I’m beginning to suspect that straight-up ‘crazy’ might be getting the upper hand this time around.

Was the Gaz-a-Lago boggler an exercise in distraction, an actual policy statement, or a classic bait-and-switch maneuver? All of the above? Does anyone know for sure? I sure as hell don’t. Does the Goblin hisself know? Probably not.

And just to assure you, Gentle Reader(s), that I’m doing my homework on this: I checked on Zillow and I can assure you that Gaza, Greenland, Canada and the Panama Canal are not listed as available. Perhaps they’re on VRBO but I don’t think DrumpReich 2.0 is interested in a rent/lease arrangement.

Anyway, enough of that (for the moment). Below is the detailed listing of this Thursday’s session at the Mat’ and the YouTube playlist is here: DJ Inky YouTube Playlist
